AI is changing our world fast. That's why understanding computer science is no longer optional. It's essential for building fair, inclusive communities where everyone can succeed. This is our mission at APCSE. We bring educators together with leaders from government, industry, and non-profits to solve the biggest challenges in computer science education. Our goal is to create an approach, inspired by teachers, that works for the entire Asia-Pacific region.
This Year's Theme: Beyond Algorithms: Redefining K-12 Computing for the AI Generation is all about turning strategy into action. We’re moving past just coding to explore practical ways to teach AI and data science, and we'll be among the first to dive into the new AI Literacy framework. Our focus will be on how to bring this important framework to life in our classrooms to help every student become a confident creator and critical thinker who can actively shape technology.
As chairman of the International Computer Science Education Consortium (ICSEC),
I am honored to co-host the Asia Pacific Computer Education Conference. Last year’s conference in Japan was truly meaningful, offering invaluable opportunities for dialogue and collaboration.
This event provides a unique platform for educators, policymakers, and industry leaders to come together and shape the future of computer science education across our diverse region.

About APCSE 2025
In the era of artificial intelligence, information technology has become fundamental to all value creation activities across society. As we strive to build communities that genuinely embrace Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, promoting comprehensive computer science education in public schools has become an urgent imperative.
The mission of the Asia-Pacific Computer Science Education Conference is to unite leaders from education, government, industry, and civil society. Together, we tackle the most critical challenges in CS education across our region: from shaping effective policy and building robust infrastructure to empowering our teachers and ensuring every student has inclusive access.
Last year, our inaugural conference in Japan was a landmark success, bringing together 32 international participants from 14 countries to explore the future of computer education. Building on that energy, we are excited to continue the vital conversations and collaborations that began in Japan.
This year's theme, 'Beyond Algorithms: Redefining K-12 Computing for the AI Generation,' emphasizes our commitment to preparing students not just to use technology, but to shape its future. We focus on thoughtfully integrating artificial intelligence, data science, and emerging technologies into educational frameworks while ensuring every student has the opportunity to become a confident creator and critical thinker in our digital world.

Theme 1 : Innovating Pedagogy in Computer Science Education
This group represents pioneering approaches to CS education fundamentals, innovative learning tools, and research-backed pedagogical approaches.
Theme 3 : Classroom Practices to Engage Every student in CS Education
This group addresses critical perspectives on ensuring CS education reaches all students regardless of background or ability.
Theme 5 : Policy, Leadership, and AI future-ready skills
These speakers bridge policy, implementation, and future-focused educational innovation at global and regional scales.
Andrea leads global education benchmarks (OECD/PISA), Pat shapes national CS policies at Code.org, and Pat (another Pat) pushes the frontier of AI-human interaction for human flourishing. Together, they highlight how policy, ethics, and innovation intersect in Computer Science Education.
Theme 2 : Hands-On Tools and Ecosystems for AI and STEM Learning
This theme centers on learning by doing. These speakers bring robotics kits, microcontrollers, interactive exhibits, and AI playgrounds to schools and museums, making complex STEM and AI concepts tangible and exciting for young learners across the region.
Theme 4 : Public-Private Partnerships Driving the Future of Education
This group showcases how corporate and regional organizations are shaping the education landscape through strategic foresight, infrastructure investment, and educational innovation. These partnerships play a key role in scaling national programs, developing future-ready curricula, and connecting policy with practice.
